Competitive advantages

Salmon plasma proteins have unique properties that provide advantages for many indications. Salmon fibrinogen and thrombin are free from mammalian viruses and prions, a major advantage in therapeutic use. In addition to its bioactive properties, salmon fibrin degrades more slowly in vivo than mammalian fibrin, and polymerizes over a wide temperature range (4°-40°C) which could be useful for neurotrauma or surgery performed under induced hypothermia.

Product Pipeline

SEA-STAT®TH is a salmon plasma product that provides an effective treatment for acute pain. In animal models, a single application of SEA-STAT®TH has:
  • Reduced pain after neural and soft tissue injury.
  • Maintained pain relief for up to 7 days
  • Provided an effective alternative to opiods
SEA-STAT® HM is a salmon fibrin product for hemostasis. Animal studies have demonstrated consistent performance equal or superior to mammalian-derived fibrin sealants.

SEA-STAT®CNS is a salmon fibrin product which has shown remarkable efficacy in animal trials of spinal cord injury (SCI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Salmon fibrin has:

  • Reduced neuroinflammation
  • Spared injured neurons
  • Enhanced neurite outgrowth and survival of stem cells
  • Suppressed inhibitory cytokines and glial scar
  • Promoted functional recovery

Laboratory products

  • SALMON THROMBIN and FIBRINOGEN are sold by Reagent Proteins, Inc.
