SRH-29
SRH-29 is a product from salmon ovarian fluid which is produced in large quantity by female salmon and trout before and at spawning. Unfertilized eggs may be stored in the body cavity of the fish for several months, protected and preserved in ovarian fluid. SRH-29 would be used in the market for platelet preservation. Preventing cold-activation of platelets would allow their storage for a considerably longer time than the current 3-5 days. At present, there are no satisfactory additives or devices that permit cold storage of platelets.
