Unfertilized eggs may be stored in the body cavity of the fish for several months, protected and preserved in ovarian fluid. SRH-29 would be used in the market for platelet preservation. Preventing cold-activation of platelets would allow their storage for a considerably longer time than the current 3-5 days. At present, there are no satisfactory additives or devices that permit cold storage of platelets.
